I began machine embroidery when my daughter was pregnant with our first grandchild. Being a true daughter of the South, she wanted some items personalized and embroidered for her baby son. My sister had a Babylock Ellure sewing/embroidery machine that she could no longer use so my daughter and I decided to take lessons to learn how to use it. I did not sew at all but my daughter had learned from my mother-in-law and so we decided to try our hands at making a few items. She worked so I had more time since I had recently retired from nursing to help with sick family members. I began with very simple burp cloths and progressed slightly but the screen was black and white and small and I was often frustrated. I finally purchased the Babylock Spirit since it was an embroidery only machine and I still did not sew! It has given me many great hours of pleasure and I have used it for many birthday, wedding and baby shower and Christmas gifts. I really love all forms of embroidery-applique, filled, in the hoop, FSL and in the hoop designs. I do more applique than anything but second is filled. Thank you in advance for the free designs.
