Why I LOVE Machine Embroidery!
I was first taught to Crochet by my Aunt at the age of 8, then My Grandmother started me in simple Quilting projects starting around the age of 9. I Stopped during my College years, but I always went back to the more colorful, relaxing and what seemed more hands on to me, the Crocheting and Quilting. I Then picked them up again between 1975-1977, when I got pregnant, but the pregnancies weren’t to be then, until my son was born in 77’. By then I already had a box full of Afghans/blankets and outfits ready for the little one in various styles and colors, (just in case not knowing what I would have and even IF.) Then after yet another 2 misses, I continued to make sweaters for our son and finally 9 years later, we were blessed with our miracle baby girl! And WOW DID I SPOIL HER, w blankets, toys and outfits. I continued making my daughter outfits, plus tons of everything for my co-workers children and their grand babies, I even took up Knitting, but never got very good at it. I’ve dabbled in Macrame’ , Cross Stitch and had tried everything EXCEPT machine Embroidery!
Couldn’t hurt to try it, right? Well it’s been 6 years now that I’ve been LOVIN IT and I wish I hadn’t waited so long. I stalled almost 2 years just talking about it and trying to justify why I needed another expensive hobby, but my daughter helped talk me into it, and now she’s even hooked and uses the machine as much, if not more, than I do. My machine gets special attention at least 3-4 times a week, w Holiday times usually doubling. Being retired gives me ALL that extra time to relax and bond w my actual “FAVORITE HOBBY/PASTIME” of Machine Embroidering. I’m signed up with eight to ten Embroidery sites and download files every day. I have a PC that’s just for my Embroidery files with I think at least 5 external memory sticks and numerous CD’s. I guess you could say that I’m a little OC, but it’s a safe enough hobby I guess! I have to have a vice of some sort, since I don’t drink Coffee or Wine!!!! HA, HA! Thanks for letting me share, sorry , I tend to ramble. MJ. 😊
